Windsor Park Mall – once one of the premier malls in San Antonio has been vacant for a number of years. Besides a brief stint as a Katrina Refugee Center it has been largely neglected.
This mall went from the second most popular mall in San Antonio to being out of business 15 years later. A changing demographic and huge growth on the other side of San Antonio took it’s toll.
This used to be the place I shopped in San Antonio. Before Target or Walmart offered once stop shopping for everything.
So now Rackspace has a deal with 14 years tax free – a HUGE facility that will allow them to expand from ~1500 employees here to three times that. Maybe more. And a major growth-driver in the Northeast side. This is one of those cases where I think everyone wins. The city, the landlord, the people, and the employees.
I do like Rackspace!
@Deannie: You’d LOVE San Antonio!
I sure would like to work for them!
