The "primary" monitor (the only one that is a CRT - the others are LCD) keeps indicating that is is flashing between getting a video signal and not. So yeah - I hit the hard reset button after ten minutes or so. If there IS really something still happening, and the OS is "alive" then I should get an indication of what it is doing... instead of three blank monitors and an over-active HD. And by "a long time" I mean a good ten minutes! I'm sure this will be resolved though, so it isn't worrying be much - I don't shut down often - and restarting seems to work fairly fast.
