Too often we see stories like this and they make me wonder if there are really more thugs in sports, or do we just hear about them more? I have the feeling that there are simply more thugs in sports. Perhaps it’s because of the hero-worship they get; the little perks that come with being an athlete in the limelight.
Or maybe there are just more narcissists in sports – and they honestly believe they are above the law.
I think pro sports could do a lot to change this – like maybe not allow felons to play the game. Put it in their contract that they get fired if they get convicted of a felony. Period. Go lay carpet somewhere, because you won’t be playing football anymore, thug!
One of the reasons I am a San Antonio Spurs fan is because they have a reputation of hiring decent humans beings who are also athletic. Apparently you can build a winning franchise with decent people – the Spurs have won two NBA Finals recently.
