CES is going strong

Early reports are very favorable for Bill Gate’s keynote speech.  I’ve read things like “mesmerizing” and “awesome”.  I know the feeling – I have heard Bill Gates speak in person 4 times, but not in a number of years.  I’ve actually met him twice (both at education related conferences) and I can attest to the fact that he is a very commanding speaker.

I don’t know if it’s the fact you know he is worth billions of dollars, or the fact he built one of the most change-enabling companies in the work – you just listen to him in some kind of awe.  It’s not like sitting with your favorite rock star – but it’s similar.

Anyway, I just talked to one of my favorite Google employees who was at the key-note address Bill Gates did today, and he was “blown away”.  I know the feeling, and I’m glad at least some people at Google know that they have some big shoes to fill if they want to become the new Microsoft – first they’ll have to find the “new Bill Gates”.  Good luck with that.  Good luck finding a person that can not only build a huge and sustainable business, change the way people do business, build a third party market worth trillions, AND be the greatest single benefactor the human race has ever known.  Daunting task, that!

  1. Well, you know what they say about opinions! I thought it was awesome, and I’ve been exposed to Vista for a long time.
