Christmas wreath peace sign banned

The world is a crazy place.  Christmas songs are littered with the word “peace”, yet when one resident incorporates the peace symbol within a Christmas wreath she is somehow a threat to the neighborhood.  And when the head of the Homeowner’s Committee asked the architectural control committee to vote on the issue, and it didn’t go his way, he fired them all.  This is exactly why I hate homeowner’s associations – typically the person who ends up running has the most free time to meddle in other’s affairs – no matter how petty the issue.

If I fired everyone that didn’t always agree with me I would be in a very, very lonely place.

Kearns ordered the committee to require Jensen to remove the wreath, but members refused after concluding that it was merely a seasonal symbol that didn’t say anything. Kearns fired all five committee members.

  1. Mr. Kearns would be a perfect candidate for my blog’s NCOTW category. But you found him first .. 😉
Anyway, The guy’s clearly in hot water now and probably can forget re-election (unilaterally firing whole committees is not going to make one very popular).
That’s how these aberrations usually get resolved.

However, the fact that this is clearly a conflict between the HOA’s president (Kearns) and its former president (Jensen), one has to wonder if there’s not more to the story than just plain old bigotry (and stupidity).
