I do feel for all of the Countrywide employees who will lose there jobs.
Except for the ones I talked to in the brief few months Countrywide owned my mortgage on my house in Florida.
Hit by four hurricanes in about 8 weeks we were without power (or even mail delivery) for weeks. After having no phone for 18 days at one point the first call I received on my newly restored line was from Countrywide. They were pissed because I was nine days late with my payment.
If one of those people that talked to me then was let go now, then good. They deserved it. They were rude, robotic and ruthless.
Snap! I imagine those are the EXACT people Countrywide will keep right now – as they try to cover up their pathetic lending practices by bullying customers – no matter what their circumstances.
Countrywide sure knew how to start what was then an assumed 30 year relationship. They treated me like shit.
So – sorry employees – raise hell and get your CEO fired. And your Board of Directors. And be nicer to your customers – a nine day late payment doesn’t mean we are crap. It might mean we are human. Or that we had a bad month. Or that we got hit by four freaking hurricanes in a very short time frame.
LOS ANGELES – Struggling mortgage lender Countrywide Financial Corp. will cut as many as 12,000 jobs in a bid to slash costs and cope with soaring foreclosures and defaults, the company said Friday.
