seth godin’s unforgiveable manifesto

Hugh is running a nice series of short manifestos – that causes me to write my own:

The Who I work for Manifesto

I work for my customer – they pay the bills, including my salary.

My boss works for the same people I do, and if our goals are not aligned, our customers will not be served.

The customer is not always right – but they are always the customer, and I will treat them like they are right.

I am here to help – my customers, my co-workers, my bosses, and especially my employees.

Sometimes it hurts to do the right thing by a customer.  Suck it up.

I don’t own any data on my customer’s – it is their data, yet I will treat it as if it were my own.  Should they ask for it back, I will gladly give it to them, for I don’t own it.  But I do appreciate them sharing it with me.
