Bummer.  I hate it when that happens.

Server Error

We’re sorry, but Gmail is temporarily unavailable. We’re currently working to fix the
problem — please try logging in to your account in a few minutes.

  1. Google crash? Try looking at a little town in the centre of Wales, and the Darbyshire’s.

  2. Mine’s back now 🙂 And my Spam folder is empty 😛

  3. Mine is down, my friends is down. Now is the time to think about back up. I have linked to a gmail back up solution on my gmail outage post

  4. It sure would make sense for Google to post these updates on my Gmail “server is dead page”, wouldn’t it? Heck, they are serving up the server error pages anyways 🙂

  5. hard to tell how widespread it is, sitting here among the trees. anyone have a view of the forest?

  6. Oh no whatta about my spam?

  7. Garth – what is the impact? I have no clue (except it’s impact on me!)

  8. At what point does it become disingenuous to describe the gmail problems as effecting “a subset of our users”? Sure, technically speaking 75% or 98% are only subsets of 100%, but doesn’t that kind of portrayal become a polite way of misleading and minimizing the actual impact?

  9. Thanks for the link, Tom! Nice to know they are as concerned about my email as I am!

  10. 🙂 Yes – and this is the longest outage I can remember in a long time. Almost two hours now.

But I smile at the thought of the Google Panic that must be occurring in some Google Data Center somewhere 🙂

  11. Yup. It stinks. 🙁
