Enough people have posted the details on Google buying YouTube, so I won’t get into that (except to remind you that Google paid 1.6 B-I-L-L-I-O-N US dollars). Unreal.
I will share my opinion though – YouTube just won the lottery. Their legal and bandwidth costs are going to become out of control – they couldn’t have survived on their own. The fact Google bought them literally did save them. The YouTube founders, no matter what happens from now until eternity will be wealthy. And if it turns out to be a bad investment by Google they’ll just hide the fact by merging YouTube into a profitable enough business line that it just disappears from the financial’s.
I’m glad I don’t own Google stock, because I don’t like this purchase. The risks seem much higher than the potential rewards.
