If you wrote a video game that couldn’t be beat, would it sell?

I don’t know why I think about these things, but I do.  Would people buy a video game if they knew it couldn’t be beaten?

  1. Yeah, the video game might sell if you don’t tell them they can’t cheat! Come on, finding cheat codes is sometimes the best part of the darn game.

  2. I guess I thought about it when I bought Gears of War a couple weeks ago – it was something like $70, and my kids beat it the first day we got it (of course, they stayed up all night to do it, but still – for $70 I wish it would have taken them a couple of weeks!)

    Thanks for the comment 🙂

  3. Yes. If you didn’t tell them it couldn’t be beat, they would buy it with the normal intention of beating it. If you did tell them it couldn’t be beat, they would buy it to try and prove you wrong.

I don’t know why you think of these things either. Nor do I know why I am compeled to respond to things like this.
