kwout – a new way to quote

Update: I should have mentioned that what is cool about this is that this isn’t just a screen shot – all of the hyperlinks in the “kwout” are live. That’s pretty cool. Also, hat tip to Sisir for sending me the link.

kwout is an interesting service. Instead of grabbing text and linking back to the initial site it allows you to capture part of the screen of the site and post it as an image map. You don’t need to create an account or anything – just copy the Bookmarklet to your toolbar and click on it when visiting a cite you want to quote.

I’ll play with it for a couple days and see how useful I find it. Now some examples:

Here is a snip from Ike’s blog – this is normally a part of his blog that isn’t easy to quote and link to directly.

And here is a capture of an entire article from my blog:

kwout” is a way you quote a part of a web page as an image with an image map. To use this service, all you need is to add our bookmarklet to your favorite browser.
