My biggest "start-up" mistake

And I am really in a great mood, so I hope my last couple posts weren’t getting you down!

My biggest startup mistake is one as well:

I trusted unproven people (in a startup role).  And they didn’t prove.

Startups really require a different sort of person.  Being smart isn’t enough.  Being hungry isn’t enough.  Working hard isn’t even enough.

Putting EVERYTHING you have on the line – yes.  THAT sounds like a startup.

Understanding short term costs in lieu of longer term payoffs – a start-up needs people like that.  Instant gratification just doesn’t fit this mold.

If you aren’t making money while you are sleeping then figure out how to.  It’s the only way you will ever “win”.
