it means a consciousness developed this world and it lives through us. People say we need god or look to god. Well God needs us. This consciousness wants to experience physical life. It wants you to go swimming and run and make love. The "infinite" needs us to see it all. Cause if we didn't see it what would it all be. What if none of it existed...really what would that be ? think about it. You create your own life, you create everything around you whether you are aware of it or your not. Try thinking about a random person give it a week and they will contact you or you will run into them. This is our world "god" is living through us. You keep your self successful or you keep yourself awkward or anxious, there is something you learn from it. Your Ego gives you something. or simply your loving nature gives you something. The people you pass by on the street you put them there based on what you were thinking. If your scared of fast drivers, you will come in contact with them, if you are annoyed by slow drivers u will always get stuck behind one. Because thats what you are thinking about, whether its what you don't want or not, you are still thinking about it so it comes to you. its hard to get a handle on what you think, what opinions you form and what you are taking in around you. Don't live in fear, don't argue, just try to figure yourself out. Its all science. Its energy. we deal with it everyday. When u are sitting at a traffic light and you look over at a person, then right after the person looks back. It seems like they could feel you glance. They could, its all in us, we just arn't informed. Understand, the truth is inside of you. Stop following religions and different ideas and just look within yourself, seriously and try to figure it out.

The "fight" between nothingness and everything had to be seen, the universe has to be self aware.

Lots of reasons for this but they are all inherently derivative, because to derive something it must be created or defined hence the 'everything'. Awareness or consciousness, think about those words. They just mean "having some thing" and isn't that everything.

Leverage to choose what we will see before we ever see it. Enter into things with preconceptions; but what could possibly be a PREconception? Before something exists?

We get to choose reality because we are reality.

The words have the same meaning as the philosophical question; if a tree falls in the woods and no one is there to hear it does it still make a sound? Nothing exists without some form of appreciation. I especially appreciate the line "That gives us leverage".

It seems that these is statements are based upon the idea that the existence of a conscious mind is necessary to perceive and establish the existence of everything else.

The realm of the mind is where everything we perceive really exist. (this is a very common notion in eastern philosophies like Buddhism, for instance, but it is not a religious notion, per se. It´s a philosophical one.

It´s easy to think about it. Look around you and focus on some object. Touch the object. You can see and touch the object (you are witness to the existance of this object). You see this object because your eyes capture visual sensory information which your mind registers and translates into what you see. It´s not your eyes that see ultimately, its your mind. Your hands also capture the touch information and your mind registers it and translates it into the feeling you experience. The object is outside you mind, but you only interact with it through your mind.
It the universe existed, but no conscious being existed to notice the existence of the universe, it would be as if the universe didn´t exist. No one would know it was there.

The leverage is that since humans determine how things are, nothing has to be as it is. Humans can change what is called reality, because reality is ultimately an agreement, not a fact.

We should not look until we get what we want. We should not blindly accept what is passed to us as reality. For once you accept something as real, it will be real to you.
-----
It´s important to notice, that this notion is based upon very old philosophical thoughts, but that it is also in accordance to the latest theories in quantum physics.

The wisdom of noticing the fragile nature of what we call "reality" is becoming increasingly necessary in our age and time, where everything can be faked, created and manipulated so as to appear real.

The cards are at the end of all his productions and I love each one of them. Particularly funny was the one with the banging in the morning which turned out to be a bird not the frig apologies to the frig. The one from this week was so true to his cards. He was the commencement speaker at SUNY Potsdam (a campus I actually know) and how Obama was speaking at Notre Dame and about how you do only get what you pay for. LOL

The last line is also critical...
"Don't look until you get what you want".

see "You Can't Always Get What You Want (You Get what you need)" (Jagger/Richards) from 'Let It Bleed' 1969

see Rene Decartes "I think, therefore I am".
without someoen to perceive it, it doesn't exist.

while you might legitimately argue theology, when it comes to art - the creations of mankind - this certainly holds true.

It appears this is Chuck Lorre's mission statement - for if his works are not observed, what purpose do they serve? It's a manifesto on his part to create works that are observed and that the observer has all the power. The last leaves open the possibility that not all observers are created equally and can be dismissed as irrelevant.

And yes, its also a favorite of those who believe that god created man in his own image, and man returned the favor.

You're all reading too much into the statement. It has nothing to do with God. It simply states that nothing would exist without an observer. As per quantum theory, the universe would be nothing more than a mere possibility without an observer locking in reality. Time has no meaning without an observer and would simply run from beginning to end in an instant without an observer. Looked at another way, reality is what we make of it.

Updated and corrected version without typos ;-)
Graig to Russ :
Ah, you are almost right but are missing one thing, for if the Infinite/Perceiver (let's say for this e.g., that it's you, or it could be something bigger like God maybe) is able to perceive itself, then it does not NEED a perceiver to perceive it (itself) but may WANT one... So if you are the only person left in the world, if you know you're alive, then you do exist, but only to yourself and to your perception of what that means... I can go on as there are different perspectives in seeing this and not only one is right, there are many rights depending on the rules that apply to those thoughts... Whether or not a human exists to witness another living thing, doesn't make it 'not' alive, it is still alive even if no one is there to see it... BUT, 'Alive' is a Human-created word given to what we call 'living things'.... ok, I will stop there for now... I have put this and about 200 more things in my upcoming comic book Graphic Novels in the hopes to open some eyes to those who may want to 'see' more, but I've been careful with the information so as not to freak out any kids that may read it ;-)
I liked your comments very much and you made great points.
My best,
Graig-

Ah, you are almost right but are missing one thing, for if the Infinite/Perceiver (let’s say for this e.g., that it’s you, or it could be something bigger like God maybe) is able to perceive itself, then it does not NEED a perceiver to perceive it (itself) but may WANT one… So if you are the only person left in the world, if you know you’re alive, then you do exist, but only to yourself and to your perception of what that means… I can go on as there are different perspectives in seeing this and not only one is right, there are many rights depending on the rules that apply to those thoughts… Whether or not a human exists to witness another living thing, doesn’t make it ‘not’ alive, it is still alive even if no one is there to see it… BUT, ‘Alive’ is a Human-created word given to what we call ‘living things’…. ok, I will stop there for now… I have put this and about 200 more things in my upcoming comic book Graphic Novels in the hopes to open some eyes to those who may want to ‘see’ more, but I’ve been careful with the information so as not to freak out any kids that may read it
I liked your comments very much and you made great points.

Thanks for pointing me in the direction of Chuck Lorre's own page. Really appreciate it.

As for some of the comments here; It really surprised me to see so many people not knowing what it means.

For people who wants to know more about all of this, I suggest reading Imagining The Tenth Dimension. Very accesible material on the subject, among other things. http://www.tenthdimension.com/medialinks.php

I disagree with Graig. Something that can only be perceived by itself doesn't exist. What is the nature of reality? Scientists say that just observing something changes it. There is no ultimate "reality". Reality is different based on who is observing it. My reality is not "The Reality" nor is anyone else's. If you take away everyone, all perceivers, does anything exist? We give a chair "its presence, or reality by naming or labeling it as such. It would not be or occur as a chair to someone that had never come in contact with civilization, it would be an undistinguished nothing." None of what I say can be proved because if you remove all perceivers then you cannot even prove or have a discussion about reality and whether or not it exists without us.
