Our 2007 Christmas

We had a fairly modest Christmas.  Unlike the old days, my teenagers slept until noon.  No more waking up at dawn to the screams of “Santa was here, he was here!” – I finally had to wake them up.

My ex wife came over around 1pm and we watched the kids open the few gifts we had purchased them (in keeping with my retail-free Christmas).  My ex gave me a Dallas Cowboy lap-blanket.  As I opened it it was apparent it had accumulated a LOT of static electricity.  As I went to “shake the static out” a spark flew from the blanket directly to the zipper of my pants.  I shit you not!  Somehow, I think she had this planned.

After I recovered we went to some old friend’s house for Christmas dinner and got back to my house by 7.  I was sleeping by 9.  Christmas just isn’t what it used to be.  I guess the non-stop ads starting in OCTOBER are just wearing thin on me.

But I didn’t go to a single store (other than a Pharmacy and a grocery store) in all of November and December.

Mission accomplished.

Until next year.

  1. @Ike – Yep – found it when I was looking into your site/speed, so thanks! Took me a bit to get it to look like I wanted, but I like it.

  2. Ah… nice addition of the Java Pull-quotes, mister!

  3. @Deannie – I am glad you got some pleasure out of the incident. I didn’t 😉

  4. I am envisioning the static charge now…real life trumps TV every time…too funny (sorry it was at your expense!)

And of *course* it was planned! 😉
