Prison frees felon based on phony fax

This story is so funny on so many levels that I don’t know where to start.  My favorite parts though are below – “policies in place did not require checking the source”.  Damn – shouldn’t common sense require that?

And “misspellings on orders are common”.  So if you want to send false documents to the police, dont spel rite.

Or maybe it’s just late, and I am tired.  No, it’s not that – it just funny!

Prison officials did not notice that the fax came from the grocery store because policies in place did not require checking the source of a faxed order, said the LaGrange facility’s director, Greg Taylor.

“It’s not part of a routine check, but certainly, in hindsight, that would perhaps have caused somebody to ask a question,” he said. He added that misspellings on orders are common.
