We had a surprise 16th birthday party for my daughter today. She doesn’t turn 16 until Wed, but she leaves on a class trip to Mexico first thing tomorrow morning and won’t be back until next Sunday. I planned on celebrating her birthday when she returned, but her mom thought it would be better to do it early than late.
Lauren was completely surprised – and our friends were generous with her. The cake was wonderful (it looked better than store bought) and the food (Lenny’s Subs, http://lennys.com) was as good as always.
So it was a good day. Except for the fact that my youngest child is turning 16. My baby girl is turning 16.
Somehow, that just doesn’t seem right. I can’t be this old. But neither can she.
