This sounds fine – but I’m not for it. Even though I am paying for my son’s education at UTSA, I didn’t get a vote. THAT SUCKS.
I have no problem with them adding football – and no issue at all with those who love football supporting it. But I should not HAVE to support football if I choose not to. It is NOT a core curriculum item. Teach them to read, and write, and THINK. THEN teach them CPR. THEN, MAYBE consider football. I should not HAVE to support the football program to attend a University.
But I didn’t get a vote.
Welcome to the land of “the free”.
Students at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) have taken a big step toward bringing a Division I football program to the Alamo City.
University officials say nearly 66 percent of students who voted in a campus referendum Sept. 11 and 12 approved an increase of their athletic fees as part of a plan that could significantly raise the profile of UTSA’s sports program nationally.
