Oh yeah – if you are entering into a purchase for a new TV, like I bought last week, it’s possibly a one day mistake.  Maybe a three year mistake if you finance.

But a house?  That’s a lifetime mistake for a lot of people.  30 years can be a long, long time.

I’ve made money on a house, and bought a house I overpaid on – I’ve been on both sides.  But the truth is you should spend more time learning about a home purchase than you do picking your next spouse – because statistically, you’ll have a legal agreement longer with your home than your wife.

Or husband.

That is scary.

The finance guy will try to screw you harder than anyone and when he fucks you over, it can last for 30 years. On top of that, all of these people feel comfortable dicking you around because it’s not like they can expect you in the ‘store’ next month looking for something new. They know they’ve got one shot at you and they intend to make the most of it.
