Ask your kids two questions:
1) What was the worst day of your life?
2) What was the best day of your life?
Neither one of my kids answered like I expected them to on either question. But I did learn a bit more about them. And yes, I shared my best and worst days with them as well.
Best day: The day I won custody of them.
Worst day: When my daughter was 14 months old or so Doctors thought she had leukemia. It took months and many painful tests (bone marrow biopsies, etc) to find she didn’t. She had an abnormally low White Blood Cell count – but it’s been normal now for years.
Interesting what you can learn by asking questions.
