Buy cookies, win customers.
It really doesn’t take a lot of extra effort to really win a customer, as this blog post shows. Buy some work benches that need “some assembly” and include a bag of cookies to keep the customer motivated, and involved.
Yes – I’ve been real successful with this before – like sending customers samples with a “fortune cookie” in it – hand written – that says something like, “If you have problems getting this to work, you will probably be calling Rob at xxx-xxx-xxxx, because he wants to know (and he wonders where this note ended up!”
You wouldn’t believe how much a tiny bit of pre-emptive “showing customer love” can defuse what might have been a bad customer experience.
